Now I slowly
start rolling the two suit parts
togeather.
Be
sure to keep the roll tight!
ALL DONE !!
LETS
HIT THE WATER!!
With
the right kit on hand a simple
feild repair can takes 10 minutes
out of your dive day!Items needed
are:
Sharp scissors Scotch tape 80
grit sand paper 4 oz jar common
office rubber cement scrap rubber
suit mateial
This
is just the thing that can mess
up your day! A big tear on the
inside leg of your suit. The rubber
suit dries off very quickly. Even
if your soaking wet, a towel can
dry the spot in less than a minute.
Take
care in using the scotch tape
to hold the tear of the suit back
in its place. This is done on
the outside.
Next
turn the suit inside out and with
some 80 grit sandpaper sand the
rubber at least 3/4" all
around the tear. Cut the patch
rubber so it is just a bit smaller
than the sanded area.
Get
your can of common rubber cement
( Carters is best but Elmers and
most any other brand at office
supply or most any Wal-Mart, Target
etc. ) used for paper sticking.
Apply a thin coat to both the
patch and the suit. Let it dry
for 5 minutes. Note that your
small patch will curl, this is
normal. When the solvents in the
rubber cement have evaporated
the rubber will return to its
normal shape.
Then
just press the patch to the glued
area of the suit. Roll a soup
can over it with some heavy pressure
and its ready to use! The repair
will get stronger over the next
24 hours to the point if being
near imposable to remove without
damage to the rest of the suit!
